Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jihad Akbar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Grim Reaper! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akbar looks to throw the jab but Reaper is out of range. Akbar misses with an uppercut. Reaper saw that one coming. The fighters circling - Akbar throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Nice uppercut there from Akbar.
It looks like Grim Reaper has been cut. A momentary lapse in concentration from Akbar enables Reaper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Akbar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Reaper controls the pace of the fight for a moment. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Reaper won't allow Akbar to get back to his feet. Reaper should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Reaper works over Akbar with some ground and pound from guard. Reaper engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Reaper working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Reaper showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Reaper pushing down on Akbar's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Akbar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Reaper scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice strikes from Reaper there. Reaper slows the pace down in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reaper stops Akbar from getting back to his feet.
Reaper keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Reaper winds up and cracks Akbar with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Reaper lands with a punch from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Reaper connects with a nice short shot to Akbar's temple. Nice strikes from Reaper there. Reaper takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Reaper is trying for a kimura here. Akbar looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Reaper wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Grim Reaper!
