Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Ludher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oliver John! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ludher feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ludher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. John swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ludher is looking to work some ground and pound but John has wrist control. Ludher won't allow John to get back to his feet. Ludher with a flurry of punches that miss. John wants to get back to his feet but Ludher is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ludher working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of John's head. Ludher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. John being controlled here, momentarily. John wants to stand up but Ludher is controlling him. Ludher with a flurry of punches that miss. John wants to stand up but Ludher is controlling him. Ludher trying to control the position from guard on top but John is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ludher pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. John is keeping the position for now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ludher slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

John is trying to get back to his feet. Sloppy strikes there by Ludher. John wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. John defending against the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ludher connects with a decent elbow. Ludher working the head with strikes. Ludher working the ground and pound. John wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! John is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ludher wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working. Ludher is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. John knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Ludher is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, John has escaped the position, nice work there. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ludher scores with a couple of short elbows. John is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ludher has just dragged him back down to the mat. Ludher is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. John knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. John is trying to stand back up. That's three minutes gone in the round. Ludher tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ludher working the ground and pound. John is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ludher is controlling him well. Ludher has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for John! Ludher connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ludher looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Poor strikes thrown by Ludher there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
John is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
John is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Ludher looking to finish John with some ground and pound. This is bad for John! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. John trying desperately to get to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ludher lands with some vicious ground and pound - can John hang on?
John is rocked! John is trying to stand. John is still in real trouble! Can Ludher finish him? Ludher trying to control but he's not successful this time. Ludher cracks John with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Ludher! David Ludher looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I am here to finish fights. And I can promise all you fans that there will be no lay and pray in my fights.'.
