The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo is looking to chop away at Macklin's legs.
Macklin misses with a wild body shot.
Macklin lands with a cross.
Aldo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Macklin is able to avoid easily.

Aldo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Macklin.

Aldo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Macklin was covering up waiting for the punch and Aldo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Macklin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Aldo.

Aldo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Aldo is fighting to break Macklin's control of his arms but Macklin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Aldo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Macklin's guard.
Macklin wants to get back to his feet.
Aldo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Aldo uses his free foot to push down on Macklin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Macklin.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Macklin pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Aldo back to the cage. Macklin follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aldo wants to clinch up but Macklin keeps it at a distance.

Aldo slips under a jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Macklin, as that shot connected.

Macklin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Aldo moves away from the strike by Macklin.
Aldo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Macklin to the ground. Aldo is now in Macklin's guard.

Macklin pushes Aldo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Aldo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
