Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rogers Pinkelton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, esko Gonzales! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pinkelton swats away the attempt to clinch by Gonzales. Gonzales stuffs the takedown attempt from Pinkelton. Pinkelton gets slowly back to his feet. Gonzales stuffs the takedown attempt from Pinkelton. Pinkelton gets slowly back to his feet. A combination from Pinkelton does no damage. Pinkelton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rogers Pinkelton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pinkelton closes the distance and clinches up with Gonzales, looking for a takedown. Pinkelton pushes Gonzales against the cage but Gonzales circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gonzales moves into the clinch. Gonzales has Pinkelton pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pinkelton manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Gonzales has hold of one of Pinkelton's legs. Pinkelton is fighting the takedown attempt but Gonzales gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Gonzales wants to get up but he can't break Pinkelton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzales wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Pinkelton's closed guard. He's half up but Pinkelton has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Pinkelton pivots and extends the arm, Gonzales falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Pinkelton! Well done that man!
