Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tom Kazarian! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ground Pound! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kazarian slips a jab from Pound. Pound throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kazarian blocks a jab. Pound misses with a body shot.
The fighters circling - Pound throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Pound leaves Kazarian with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Pound tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kazarian was well out of range. Poor timing from Pound. Kazarian shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Pound gets a clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Pound.
It looks like Tom Kazarian has been cut. Pound misses with a knee to the head. A nice glancing elbow lands by Pound. Pound tries to land a knee to the head but Kazarian blocks with his arms.
Pound lands an elbow that stopped Kazarian in his tracks for a moment. Pound misses with an elbow over the top. Kazarian is looking to take this one to the mat. Pound tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Pound misses with a short punch on the inside. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kazarian goes for a takedown in the clinch but Pound prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Kazarian. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pound is pressed up against the cage. Kazarian has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pound down to the mat. Pound avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Pound throws a jab but it's blocked by Kazarian. Pound stuffs the takedown. Pound fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kazarian manages to avoid it. Pound misses the shot to the body. Pound has closed the distance and engaged Kazarian in a clinch.
Pound creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kazarian's defenses. Pound lands a nice elbow.
Tom Kazarian's cut is getting worse. Kazarian is trying to pull guard but Pound has him pressed against the cage. Pound lands an elbow that stopped Kazarian in his tracks for a moment. Pound lands a nice elbow.
Tom Kazarian's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Kazarian wants a takedown but no success here.
Pound gets underhooks to prevent Kazarian's takedown attempt.
Kazarian is breathing heavily. Pound swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pound lands an elbow inside that Kazarian shrugs off. Pound lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Kazarian takes an elbow to the temple. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pound lands a nice elbow.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tom Kazarian's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ground Pound! Ground Pound really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that QFClothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
