Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anderson Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nissin Miojo!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Alves lands.
Alves lands a body shot.

Miojo is trying to buck Alves off.
Alves slows the pace down.
Alves tries to score with some ground and pound. Miojo controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Anderson Alves.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves is looking to work some ground and pound but Miojo has wrist control.

Alves pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alves cracks Miojo with a good jab.
Miojo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Alves connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Miojo scrambles back to his feet.
Miojo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Alves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Miojo is still on wobbly legs! Can Alves finish him?
Miojo dives in and grabs Alves's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes down on Miojo's head and hops out.
Miojo seems to have recovered his senses.

Alves is trying to control the action in half guard but Miojo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Alves is really struggling to control Miojo but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Miojo tries to kick Alves off but Alves keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
