Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Seth Copeland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Lafayette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lafayette has chosen Bill Conti - Gonna Fly Now as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Seth Copeland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Lafayette! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lafayette shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Copeland sprawls well. Copeland wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lafayette gets slowly back to his feet.
Lafayette tries to sprawl but Copeland drives through with a takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Copeland trying to control from half guard but Lafayette is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Copeland not landing any meaningful shots this time. Copeland thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lafayette's head. Lafayette is trying to stand.
Copeland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Copeland missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Copeland with the ground and pound but Lafayette uses the opportunity to regain guard. Copeland throws a big right hand that misses. Lafayette wants to get back to his feet but Copeland is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Lafayette looking for a sweep. Not yet Lafayette, not yet. Copeland trying to control but Lafayette is working from the bottom. Lafayette being controlled here, momentarily. Copeland really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Copeland drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lafayette manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Copeland has Lafayette in his guard. Lafayette stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Copeland swivels though and keeps the full guard.

 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Seth Copeland. Copeland is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lafayette sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Copeland fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lafayette to the ground. Copeland is now in Lafayette's guard. Copeland controlling from the top position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Copeland accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Copeland is stalling in the full guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Copeland in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Copeland postures up in Lafayette's guard and throws a big left but Lafayette blocks it. Copeland trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Copeland is fighting to break Lafayette's control of his arms but Lafayette is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lafayette is trying to keep Copeland in close.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
 The ref stands the fighters back up. Hank Lafayette was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Copeland gets the takedown into side control. Copeland is putting a hurting on Lafayette here, landing some big shots from side control.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Copeland sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Lafayette is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Copeland takes a little break here. Lafayette wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Lafayette tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Copeland wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Copeland is working Lafayette over with some ground and pound from side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Seth Copeland dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Copeland bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Copeland remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Copeland throws a strike aimed at the side of Lafayette's head but Lafayette avoids it well. Lafayette stops Copeland from passing to mount. Lafayette is trying to control Copeland's posture but Copeland avoids it. Copeland taking a breather here. Copeland in side control, throwing shots but Lafayette defends. Copeland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Copeland goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lafayette has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Copeland but great work by Lafayette. Copeland is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Copeland wants to control but Lafayette is keeping busy.
Copeland makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Lafayette scores with a one two! Copeland had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Lafayette misses with a head kick.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Copeland looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Copeland shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lafayette defends it nicely. Lafayette is trying hard to land a takedown here. Copeland sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Lafayette is breathing heavily.
Copeland throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lafayette was covering up waiting for the punch and Copeland finishes the takedown easily into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Copeland trying to control but Lafayette is working from the bottom. Copeland looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Copeland trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Copeland scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lafayette keeping moving, preventing Copeland from controlling successfully. Copeland stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lafayette swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Lafayette pulls Copeland in close to his closed guard and prevents Copeland from doing any damage or advancing position.

Lafayette rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Copeland moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Lafayette is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Copeland is just riding it out for now. Lafayette eventually gives up the hold. Seth Copeland overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lafayette wants to free his trapped foot but Copeland is holding on for dear life with his legs. Lafayette takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lafayette is fighting to break Copeland's control of his arms but Copeland is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
 The ref stands the fighters back up. Seth Copeland wasn't doing enough on the ground. Lafayette shoots for a double leg takedown but Copeland sprawls well. He's pushed Lafayette's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Copeland fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

A big left from Lafayette misses.

This has been an exciting period of action! Copeland trying to control the pace. Copeland wants to take a breather but Lafayette is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Seth Copeland. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Copeland, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
