Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nobunaga Oda!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young slaps away a takedown attempt from Oda, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Oda clinches.

Oda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A slapping leg kick lands for Young.
Young lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Young moves into range and connects with a jab.
Oda takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Young cracks Oda with an open hand slap.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Young throws a shot to the body.
Young keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Oda looks for a takedown but Young sprawls well.
Oda shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jake Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nobunaga Oda.
That kick from Young tenderised Oda's leg. Oda is trying to keep his angry face on.
Oda chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Young can pounce on him.
Young works Oda's body with a nice hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Young fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Oda.
Young scores with a hook.
Oda with a lazy takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Oda drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Oda looks winded!
Young is looking for a sweep.
Young manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Young prevents Oda from improving his position.
Oda gets back to full guard.
Oda manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Oda throwing strikes here but Young is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Young blocking the ground and pound.
Oda wants to control but instead Young manages to regain half guard.
Oda seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Oda is nestled in close to Young, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Oda wants to work for an arm triangle but Young is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Young gets full guard.
Oda is looking to work some ground and pound but Young has wrist control.
Young keeping moving, preventing Oda from controlling successfully.
Oda working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Oda throws an elbow that misses. Young uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Oda's guard. Nice move by Young!

Oda pushes a forearm under Young's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Young is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nobunaga Oda!
An out of breath Nobunaga Oda thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
