Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Currie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ip Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Currie's entrance music is Helmet - Just Another Victim. A fine choice. Man has chosen as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ip Man!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man tries to close the distance and clinch but Currie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Currie scores with a decent looking hook.

and Currie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Man waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Currie.
Man misses with a takedown
and Currie counters with a right hand to the body.
Currie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Man connects with a solid leg kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Man finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Man throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Currie's waist but Currie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Man off to one side.

and Currie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Currie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Currie misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Man is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Currie asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Currie is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Man knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Man for a finish.

Man changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Currie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Currie's face as Man controls the position.
David Currie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Currie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Currie shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Man is trying to defend but Currie finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Currie connects with a nice short shot to Man's temple.

Well Currie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
