And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

You is looking for a triangle but Kobayashi pushes his legs off easily.
You is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kobayashi wants to stand but You has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

You working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kobayashi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kobayashi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

You had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kobayashi defends it easily.

You escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kobayashi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
You wants to sweep here but Kobayashi controlling him for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kobayashi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of You is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kobayashi gets control of You's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kobayashi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
You trying to control the position from guard on top but Kobayashi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
You is looking to work some ground and pound but Kobayashi has wrist control.

Kobayashi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

You tries to improve position but can't.
Kobayashi is looking to take a break and control but You is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You is pressing down on Kobayashi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kobayashi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kobayashi got a little sloppy there for a moment and You has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kobayashi has managed to get both his arms back between You's legs - danger averted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
