Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Funk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sinjo Sakamaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sakamaki comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kung fu fighting(original) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Sinjo Sakamaki will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Funk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sinjo Sakamaki! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sakamaki lunges at Funk with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Funk's hand. Funk fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Sakamaki gets a double leg takedown into Funk's guard. Sakamaki wants to get up but he can't break Funk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Sakamaki trying to control but Funk is working from the bottom. Sakamaki might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Funk kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Sakamaki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Funk is proving hard to escape from. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Funk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sakamaki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Sakamaki wanted to stand there but Funk had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Funk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sakamaki wants to stand but Funk has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Sakamaki wants to control from the top but Funk keeps moving.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sinjo Sakamaki wasn't active enough on the ground. Funk tries to clinch up but Sakamaki circles away and keeps his distance. Funk tries to keep at a distance but Sakamaki has taken the fight into the clinch. Funk slowing the pace effectively. Funk is looking to control Sakamaki's arms but Sakamaki gets an underhook and turns him. Now Funk has his back to the cage. Sakamaki lands an elbow just above Funk 's eye.
It looks like Frank Funk has been cut. Sakamaki creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Funk's defenses. Sakamaki looking to throw knees to the head but Funk is blocking nicely.

Funk stalling in the clinch but Sakamaki improves position. Funk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sakamaki falls off balance throwing a combination
and Funk counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sakamaki! Sakamaki sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Funk is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Sakamaki is trying is best to control the position here.

Funk wants to control but Sakamaki is keeping him busy. Sakamaki trying to control but Funk postures up.
Funk is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Funk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sakamaki doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Funk. Sakamaki has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Funk is working away from the top position though. Sakamaki wants to get back to full guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Funk lands a nice short elbow. Funk lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Funk working over Sakamaki with some ground and pound. Sakamaki looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Funk is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sakamaki is looking for a sweep. Funk is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sakamaki keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Funk is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sakamaki doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Funk. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sakamaki is defending against the submission attempts here by Funk.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Sinjo Sakamaki will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Frank Funk's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The referee is keeping an eye on Funk - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Funk wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sakamaki has him pressed against the cage. Funk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sakamaki keeps the fight on the outside. Funk drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Funk wants to control from the top but Sakamaki keeps moving. Sakamaki trying to keep a closed guard but Funk is proving a slippery customer.
Sakamaki wants to stand but Funk is controlling the position. Funk drops back looking for a leg! Sakamaki is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sakamaki manages to kick Funk off! Funk jumps back into Sakamaki's guard. Sakamaki wants to stand but Funk is controlling the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Funk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Sakamaki managing to control the position. Funk trying to control but Sakamaki is working from the bottom.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Funk jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sakamaki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Funk is one step ahead there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Funk works a leg free and moves into half guard. Funk frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Funk scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Sakamaki bucks up and throws Funk to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Sakamaki rushes Funk and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sakamaki lands a damaging elbow. Funk stalling the fight.

Funk trying to control the position but instead, Sakamaki has worked for underhooks and has pushed Funk into the cage. Funk misses with some punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sakamaki lands an elbow inside. Sakamaki drops Funk with a big knee straight up the middle! Funk is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Funk is rocked! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sakamaki moves into the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Sakamaki. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sinjo Sakamaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Frank Funk's cut. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Funk looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sakamaki is fending him off so far but Funk persists. Nope, Sakamaki circles away and we're back to standing. No luck with that takedown attempt from Funk. Sakamaki has managed to clinch.

Oh Funk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sakamaki has Funk pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Funk is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Sakamaki - that's hurt Funk badly! Oh, another knee lands and Funk is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Funk doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Sinjo Sakamaki! After winning the bout, Sinjo Sakamaki thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
