Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Constantine Markakis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Flanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ned Flanders is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Constantine Markakis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ned Flanders!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flanders shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Flanders is looking to clinch but Markakis is avoiding it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Markakis.

Markakis drives through and clinches with Flanders against the cage.
Flanders has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Markakis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Flanders drops down looking for an ankle pick but Markakis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Constantine Markakis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ned Flanders.
Markakis tries to clinch

and Flanders counters with a shoot takedown. Markakis fights it but they end up in guard.
Flanders wants to control from the top but Markakis keeps moving.
Flanders tries to free his leg and advance position but Markakis is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Markakis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Markakis takes the fight into the clinch.
Flanders is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Markakis pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Flanders goes for a takedown attempt but Markakis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Markakis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Markakis closes the distance and clinches.
Flanders drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Markakis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Markakis tries to stall but Flanders uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Flanders is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Markakis is looking to break free of the clinch but Flanders has double underhooks.

Flanders decides to pull guard.

Flanders looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Markakis has picked Flanders up and slammed him! Flanders can't keep hold of the triangle and Markakis manages to pass to side control!
Flanders looks gassed!
Markakis gets to mount! Flanders was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Flanders is looking to get to half guard.

Markakis tries to control but Flanders wriggling away.
Flanders is trying to reverse the position but instead Markakis has taken his back - oops!
Markakis has the hooks in. Flanders is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Markakis controlling the positon.

Markakis is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Flanders knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Flanders for a finish.

Flanders is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Markakis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Markakis's back!

Flanders is looking for a choke. Markakis gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Markakis manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Markakis trying to control but Flanders is working from the bottom.
Markakis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ned Flanders will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Markakis darts in trying to clinch

and Flanders counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Markakis's guard now.
Flanders tries to free his leg and advance position but Markakis is retaining full guard.
Markakis is looking to stand up but Flanders isn't so interested in that idea.
Flanders wants to pass the guard but Markakis is keeping the position.
Flanders wants to control from the top but Markakis keeps moving.

Flanders is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Markakis is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Markakis has escaped and now he's on top!
Flanders is breathing heavily.

Flanders throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Markakis escapes and throws Flanders's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Flanders is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Markakis trying to control the action but Flanders is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Markakis dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Markakis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Markakis has managed to clinch.
Markakis is pressed up against the cage. Flanders has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Markakis down to the mat. Markakis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Flanders counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Markakis!
Markakis slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Flanders is pressing down on Markakis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Markakis is holding on for now.

Flanders is looking for a kimura but Markakis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Flanders to get the leverage.

Markakis trying to control but Flanders postures up.

Flanders looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Markakis is trying to control but can't.

Flanders wants to work for an arm triangle but Markakis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Markakis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ned Flanders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Markakis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Flanders shoots in and drives through. Markakis sprawls well.
Flanders chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Markakis can pounce on him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Flanders has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Markakis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

I've got Flanders winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
