The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Mahaffey. No joy for Gilly on that attempt.

Mahaffey is looking to take a break and control but Gilly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Oly Mahaffey.
Gilly shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Gilly's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gilly duly obliges.
It looks like Oly Mahaffey has been cut.
Gilly clinches with his opponent.
Gilly is trying to force a seperation but Mahaffey has the dominant position.
Gilly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mahaffey gets caught napping as Gilly dives in and scores a takedown. Mahaffey manages to retain guard.
Gilly stands and steps away. Mahaffey gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mahaffey takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Gilly darts in and clinches Mahaffey up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gilly has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mahaffey uses from the top position.

Boss Gilly is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Gilly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
