Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Felipe Frulani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Norman Whitaker!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Whitaker connects with the punch.
Whitaker misses with a double jab

and Frulani counters with a takedown into side control.
Whitaker tries to bench press Frulani off him but Frulani keeps the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Whitaker can do anything to dispel that myth.

Frulani tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Frulani has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Whitaker is trying to buck Frulani off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Frulani tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Whitaker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Frulani wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Frulani misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Frulani working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Whitaker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frulani. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Frulani has hold of Whitaker's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Whitaker tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Frulani cranks the arm and Whitaker screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Whitaker, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Felipe Frulani!
