The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacMillen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as MacMillen sprawls well. MacMillen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Matthews gets slowly back to his feet.
MacMillen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Matthews shoots and misses
and MacMillen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Matthews thinking.
Matthews looks winded!
MacMillen connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Matthews momentarily.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown but MacMillen shows good takedown defense.
John MacMillen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Matthews.
Matthews doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
MacMillen scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
MacMillen punishes Matthews's body with a nice straight punch.
MacMillen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
