Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Mingan Napayshni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Evans! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Napayshni tries to clinch there but Evans circles away.
Napayshni gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Evans tries to free his leg and advance position but Napayshni is retaining full guard. Evans loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Napayshni avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Evans throws a big elbow that misses. Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Napayshni is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Evans trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Evans lands a couple of digs. Evans in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Napayshni keeping moving, preventing Evans from controlling successfully. Evans postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Evans looking to pass the guard. Evans loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Evans lands a couple of digs. Evans is looking to work some ground and pound but Napayshni has wrist control. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Evans wants to pass the guard but Napayshni is keeping the position. Napayshni is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Evans seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Napayshni has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Evans has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Evans wants to control but Napayshni postures up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Napayshni tries to advance position but instead Evans slips a leg back in to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Evans dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Evans slips a jab from Napayshni. Evans throws a shot from downtown. Napayshni moves away and avoids it. Evans misses with a shot to the body and Napayshni counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Napayshni blocks a jab. Napayshni lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Evans at a distance.
Napayshni takes a swing at Evans's ribcage but misses. Evans closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Napayshni wants to get back to his feet but Evans drags him back down. Evans throwing shots but missing, from side control. Napayshni dodges the ground and pound from Evans. Napayshni gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Evans lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans looking to finish Napayshni with some ground and pound. This is bad for Napayshni! Evans wants to control the pace but Napayshni is squirming around nicely. Napayshni wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Evans.
Poor strikes thrown by Evans there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Evans with a couple of short strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Evans controlling the position easily from mount. Evans with shots to the head and body - Napayshni looks very uncomfortable down there. Evans raining down hammerfists from mount. Napayshni is squirming around, avoiding Evans's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Napayshni holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Evans tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Evans sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Evans lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Napayshni hang on? Evans postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Napayshni looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Evans cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Marcus Evans has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Evans scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Evans lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Napayshni moves away from the strike by Evans. Napayshni keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Evans misses with a double jab.
Napayshni tries to move into range but Evans moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Evans missing with a left hand there. Napayshni was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Evans shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Evans was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Evans throws some wild stikes that Napayshni manages to avoid easily.
Evans with good strikes from the mount here! Evans moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Napayshni has worked his arm free - good work by Napayshni!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Napayshni takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Napayshni taking a bit of punishment here - Evans scoring with strikes. Evans wants to lay and pray for a moment but Napayshni keeps working. Napayshni is trying to escape the position but Evans is controlling the position. Evans throws a strike aimed at the side of Napayshni's head but Napayshni avoids it well. Napayshni prevents Evans from improving position. Napayshni managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Evans.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans misses with the ground and pound. Evans trying to control the action but Napayshni is working from the bottom. Napayshni is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Evans with the ground and pound but Napayshni uses the opportunity to regain guard. Evans looking to pass the guard. Marcus Evans is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Evans trying to control but Napayshni is working from the bottom. Evans is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Marcus Evans. Evans throws the left hand but Napayshni avoids the punch easily. Mingan Napayshni is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Evans swats away the attempt to clinch by Napayshni.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Evans misses with a hook. Evans takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Napayshni throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Evans fails to land with a series of punches.
Napayshni wants to clinch. Evans wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Napayshni uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Evans. Napayshni slips under a jab. Napayshni keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Evans misses with a looping right. Evans throws a shot from downtown. Napayshni moves away and avoids it. Mingan Napayshni has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice shot lands for Napayshni.
And that's the end of the fight! Marcus Evans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
