Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Junakovic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Turock Rio! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Rio misses. Junakovic moves out of range of the body kick. Turock Rio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Junakovic avoids the head kick by Rio.
Junakovic closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Junakovic lands in his opponent's guard. Junakovic passes Rio's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Rio looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Junakovic is trying to control. Rio wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Junakovic is really struggling to control Rio but he's trying to hold on to the position. Junakovic landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Junakovic scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
It looks like Turock Rio has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rio wants to control but Junakovic is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Junakovic working the head and body with strikes. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rio can do anything to dispel that myth. Rio pushes Junakovic off looking to stand but Junakovic dives back in and keeps control.
Ground and pound from Junakovic. Junakovic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rio is just riding it out for now. Junakovic eventually gives up the hold. Junakovic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Junakovic wants to work for an arm triangle but Rio is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Junakovic takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Junakovic working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That has opened up Turock Rio's cut even more. Junakovic drops an elbow to the side of Rio's head.
Rio is rocked! Junakovic is figuring out what he wants to do next. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Junakovic connects with a nice short shot to Rio's temple. Rio is still in real trouble! Can Junakovic finish him? Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Junakovic scores with a big shot! Rio's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Rio! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
