Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Bowens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane MacLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacLain is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Drowning Pool - Bodies (Let The Bodies Hit The Floor. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Bowens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane MacLain! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! MacLain scores with a jab to the head.
MacLain fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bowens to the ground. MacLain is now in Bowens's guard. Bowens had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. MacLain defends it easily. MacLain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bowens is keeping the position for now. Bowens has his foot on MacLain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. MacLain works his way back into a safe position though. MacLain lands a couple of elbows. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. MacLain postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. MacLain trying to control but Bowens is working from the bottom. Bowens wants to sweep here but MacLain controlling him for the moment. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as MacLain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. MacLain wants to stand but Bowens is controlling his posture from full guard. MacLain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacLain with a nice head shot there. Bowens avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bowens has a closed guard, preventing MacLain from standing up. Bowens is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. MacLain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bowens is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of MacLain, into his guard. Bowens preventing the sweep. Bowens is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. MacLain looking for a guillotine here but Bowens defends easily.
Bowens passes MacLain's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bowens is keen to just control but MacLain is a slippery customer.

Bowens gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. MacLain wants to improve his position but instead Bowens has moved into half guard.
MacLain is looking to control Bowens's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can MacLain avoid being mounted? MacLain won't allow Bowens to pass to mount. That's four minutes gone in the round. MacLain closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bowens's guard. MacLain keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bowens's head. Bowens really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. MacLain trying to control but Bowens is working from the bottom. Bowens has his foot on MacLain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Not particularly brutal. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! MacLain lands a couple of digs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shane MacLain dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Bowens tries to clinch up but MacLain circles away and keeps his distance. MacLain misses with a two punch combination.
Bowens shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with MacLain but MacLain pushes him off and we're back to square one. MacLain scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Bowens looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. MacLain lands with a punch from half guard. MacLain working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. MacLain is trying to control. Bowens wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. MacLain scores with a couple of good hammerfists. MacLain seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. MacLain landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacLain drops an elbow to the side of Bowens's head. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. MacLain wants to pass the guard but Bowens is defending well. Bowens is trying to defend against the ground and pound but MacLain scores with a couple of nice shots. MacLain seems to be looking for submissions.
MacLain lands strikes from half guard. Bowens actively working from the bottom here. MacLain is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bowens has managed to free his arm - good work. MacLain passes the guard and advances to mount! BOOM! MacLain connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. MacLain trying to control but Bowens is having none of it. MacLain scoring with strikes but Bowens is staying in there. MacLain is landing with some decent strikes but Bowens is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. MacLain has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bowens's face.
MacLain is in the full mount, landing strikes. Bowens is wriggling around trying to escape.

MacLain prevents Bowens from getting the reversal. MacLain lands a big shot there that rocks Bowens but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round. MacLain lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bowens hang on? Oh Bowens is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Bowens taking shots to the head. A nice elbow there by MacLain. MacLain lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

MacLain with shots to the head and body - Bowens looks very uncomfortable down there. This has been an exciting period of action! Bowens in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. MacLain pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. MacLain looking to secure an arm triangle but Bowens defends it well. BOOM! MacLain connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's four minutes gone in the round. MacLain content just to control the position here. Bowens seems to have got his legs back now. MacLain is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bowens to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bowens shrugs it off. Bowens is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
MacLain lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bowens hang on? MacLain landing strikes, looking to finish! MacLain working away from the top, dropping strikes. MacLain has been the more effective fighter overall so far. MacLain connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! MacLain lands a heavy elbow. MacLain landing strikes from the mount and Bowens is in trouble! MacLain cracks Bowens with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
