Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Maddox Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Will Boulks! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Boulks manages to avoid it. Horrible takedown by Boulks or perhaps it was just good defense by Hughes which made him look bad. Boulks doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Will Boulks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boulks gets caught flat footed, as Hughes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Hughes looking to sit in guard and control but Boulks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Boulks throws a big right hand that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boulks with a nice head shot there. Boulks is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boulks sitting in guard here, content to control. Hughes working a defensive guard but Boulks passes into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Hughes wants to improve his position but Boulks is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boulks maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hughes could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Boulks has cracked it and Hughes is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Boulks!
