PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makosi Karolczak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Caraglio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Makosi Karolczak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Caraglio!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caraglio misses with a two punch combination.
Caraglio throws a series of punches but Karolczak moves out of range.
Caraglio throws a right and a left that both miss.
Caraglio misses with a double jab

and Karolczak counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Caraglio's guard now.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Caraglio is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Karolczak dives into side control.
Caraglio is trying to escape the position but Karolczak is controlling the position.

Caraglio is trying to buck Karolczak off.
Caraglio is looking to get back to his feet here but Karolczak is keeping cool and he's managed to take Caraglio's back.
Caraglio is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Karolczak seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Caraglio for as long as he can get away with.
Karolczak's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Karolczak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We're going to have a standup here because Makosi Karolczak wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Caraglio throws a left and a right that both miss

and Karolczak counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Karolczak.
Caraglio blocks an elbow strike from Karolczak.

Karolczak breaks the clinch.
Caraglio misses with a wild combination.
Caraglio lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Karolczak circles away quickly and effectively.

Karolczak slips a jab and a cross from Caraglio.
Karolczak really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Caraglio falls off balance throwing a combination

so Karolczak counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Caraglio looks winded!
Caraglio can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Karolczak controls the pace.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Caraglio blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Karolczak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Caraglio throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Karolczak counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Karolczak sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Caraglio is breathing heavily.

Caraglio wants to get back to his feet but Karolczak is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Karolczak is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Makosi Karolczak has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
A punch combination from Caraglio misses.

Caraglio looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Karolczak dives in and grabs Caraglio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Caraglio pushes down on Karolczak's head and hops out.

Makosi Karolczak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Karolczak is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Caraglio is wriggling around but Karolczak manages to pass to half guard.
Karolczak keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Makosi Karolczak just wasn't active enough.
Caraglio throws a left and a right that both miss

and Karolczak counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Caraglio throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Karolczak.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Caraglio rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Karolczak moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Caraglio tries to bum rush Karolczak with a series of wild strikes but Karolczak uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Caraglio looks to land a combination but Karolczak avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Makosi Karolczak dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Karolczak trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Caraglio doesn't escape.

Caraglio is squirming around looking to escape but he's just wriggling himself into more trouble. Karolczak sinks in the hooks and manages to tighten his grip on a rear naked choke. Caraglio has no choice but to tap and Karolczak jumps to his feet to celebrate and slick submission win!
