Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Fernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dorn Il Khan! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Fernandez misses. Il Khan drives through and clinches with Fernandez against the cage.
Il Khan connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Frank Fernandez has been cut. Il Khan drops Fernandez with a big knee straight up the middle! Fernandez is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Fernandez is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Il Khan clinches with his opponent.
Oh Fernandez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Il Khan is pressed up against the cage. Fernandez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Il Khan down to the mat. Il Khan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Il Khan buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Il Khan leaves Fernandez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Fernandez seems to have got his legs back now. Fernandez is breathing heavily. Fernandez misses with a takedown attempt and Il Khan counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Fernandez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Il Khan connects with a knee to the head.
Il Khan has Fernandez pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Fernandez is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Il Khan - that's hurt Fernandez badly! Oh, another knee lands and Fernandez is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Fernandez doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Dorn Il Khan!
