The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punishment misses with a takedown attempt
letting Godbolt counter with a right hand.
Punishment shoots and misses
so Godbolt counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Godbolt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Punishment manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Corporal Punishment seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Punishment tries for a takedown but Godbolt circles away easily
and Godbolt counters with a left to the body.
Matthew Godbolt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Corporal Punishment.
Punishment with a lazy takedown attempt
and Godbolt cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Godbolt uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Punishment shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Godbolt counter with a right hand.
Punishment tries for a takedown but Godbolt circles away easily
and Godbolt counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Punishment is rocked!
Punishment looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Godbolt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Godbolt trying to control the position from guard on top but Punishment is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Godbolt prevents Punishment from getting back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Punishment keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Punishment closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Godbolt did well to prevent Punishment getting side control.
Punishment is just content to waste time from the top position. Godbolt takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Punishment working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Punishment is sitting in close to Godbolt's body. Godbolt has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Punishment is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Punishment is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Godbolt.
