PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rory Markman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCarthy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McCarthy can do anything to dispel that myth.

McCarthy is staying active underneath Markman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Markman is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Markman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McCarthy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Markman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Markman is taking a breather. McCarthy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Markman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McCarthy.

Markman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Markman is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Markman is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down McCarthy's shoulder. That is not cool.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Markman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
