Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Nitschke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peekay Williams! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nitschke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Williams moves away. Williams lands a lovely overhand right. Williams scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Nitschke looks to land a right hand but Williams moved out of range. Nice body punch from Williams. Williams takes a swing at Nitschke's ribcage but misses. Williams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nitschke manages to avoid it. No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt. Williams listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Nitschke throws the left hand but Williams avoids the punch easily. Peekay Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nitschke's waist but Nitschke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side. Williams connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Williams cracks Nitschke with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Williams misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nitschke.

That's one minute gone in the round. Williams shoots for a takedown but Nitschke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Damian Nitschke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peekay Williams. Williams lands a jab. Williams fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Nitschke throws a shot from downtown. Williams moves away and avoids it. Nitschke throws a predictable looking body shot
and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nitschke's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Williams lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nitschke looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nitschke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nitschke working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Williams has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nitschke keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Williams not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Williams throwing strikes but missing. Nitschke is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Williams has his hands clasped together but Nitschke extends an breaks Williams's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Nitschke.
