Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kuroda Atsushi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Victor Bonifacio! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Atsushi checks a leg kick. Bonifacio is looking to score with low kicks. Bonifacio throws a shot from downtown. Atsushi moves away and avoids it. Atsushi is looking to score with low kicks. A telegraphed right hand from Bonifacio misses the target. Bonifacio throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Victor Bonifacio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Atsushi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Atsushi ducks under a wild hook from Bonifacio. Atsushi misses with an uppercut. Atsushi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A chopping leg kick lands by Atsushi. Bonifacio throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bonifacio lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Atsushi shoots in for a double leg but Bonifacio sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Atsushi misses with a double jab.

and Atsushi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bonifacio's knee momentarily. Atsushi ducks under a wild hook from Bonifacio. Bonifacio stuns Atsushi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Atsushi, right into the meat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bonifacio with a hook. Bonifacio misses with a leg kick and Atsushi counters with an inside leg kick. Atsushi throws out a powerful jab. Atsushi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Bonifacio moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Bonifacio scores with a punch to the head. Bonifacio misses with an uppercut. Atsushi saw that one coming. Bonifacio misses with a straight left. Bonifacio connects with a nice looking jab.

Bonifacio throws a looping overhand right but Atsushi ducks down to avoid it. Bonifacio throws a push kick but Atsushi slaps the foot to one side. Atsushi throws a low kick but it's checked well by Bonifacio. Bonifacio takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Atsushi connects with an inside leg kick. Bonifacio throws a low kick but Atsushi avoids it. Atsushi thumps Bonifacio with a low kick. Bonifacio moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Bonifacio swings for the body but Atsushi moves out of range.

Bonifacio looks to land a right hand but Atsushi moved out of range. Atsushi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bonifacio's head. A looping hook to the body misses from Atsushi. Bonifacio does a little dance to reset his feet. Bonifacio lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Atsushi lunges at Bonifacio with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bonifacio's hand. Atsushi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bonifacio. Bonifacio lands a really nice looking cross but Atsushi seems unphased.

Atsushi looks to land a left hand but Bonifacio moved out of range nicely. Atsushi on the wrong end of a nice hook. Atsushi takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Bonifacio fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Atsushi manages to avoid it. Bonifacio throws a good cross that connects.
Bonifacio misses with a left hand and Atsushi counters with a thumping low kick. Atsushi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bonifacio avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Bonifacio is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Atsushi had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Atsushi throws a looping overhand right but Bonifacio ducks down to avoid it. Atsushi fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Bonifacio is out of range. Bonifacio throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Atsushi counters with a head kick. That will keep Bonifacio thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Bonifacio avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Atsushi avoids the body shot from Bonifacio.

Bonifacio uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Atsushi. A looping hook to the body misses from Bonifacio. Atsushi does a little dance to reset his feet. Atsushi drops his hands momentarily and Bonifacio takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Atsushi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Bonifacio. Good leg kick by Atsushi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bonifacio throws a leg kick but Atsushi sees it coming and moves out of range. Bonifacio changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Bonifacio throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bonifacio gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Atsushi scoring with punches to the head and body. Atsushi trying to control the position from guard on top but Bonifacio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kuroda Atsushi will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Atsushi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Atsushi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Bonifacio connects with a single shot there. Bonifacio throws a hook but Atsushi blocks it. Atsushi looking to score a takedown here. Bonifacio is defending well but Atsushi drives through and ends up in Bonifacio's guard. Atsushi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Atsushi stops Bonifacio from standing up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bonifacio can do anything to dispel that myth. Bonifacio manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Atsushi manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bonifacio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Atsushi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bonifacio has managed to get both his arms back between Atsushi's legs - danger averted. Atsushi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Bonifacio's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bonifacio postures up.
Bonifacio trying to control the position from guard on top but Atsushi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bonifacio wants to stand but Atsushi has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Atsushi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bonifacio! Atsushi pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Bonifacio is desperately trying to improve his position but Atsushi has a good base and remains in mount. You get the feeling that Bonifacio really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Bonifacio wants to hold on but Atsushi pushes him away. Atsushi won't let Bonifacio get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Atsushi lands a big elbow. Atsushi has hold of Bonifacio's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bonifacio manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Atsushi lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bonifacio hang on? Atsushi postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bonifacio looks a forlorn figure.
Bonifacio is rocked! Atsushi looking to finish Bonifacio with some ground and pound. This is bad for Bonifacio! Bonifacio is still in real trouble! Can Atsushi finish him? Atsushi postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Bonifacio bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Atsushi and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kuroda Atsushi! Kuroda Atsushi retains his lightweight title! Kuroda Atsushi really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Syndicate Nutrition (DUS) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
