Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Teto Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Teto Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David King!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King lands a nice shot to the body.

King drives through and clinches with Ortiz against the cage.
King is trying to push Ortiz away but Ortiz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Ortiz blocks an uppercut.
Ortiz blocks a body shot from King.
A right hand to the body from King.
King misses with a punch on the inside.
Ortiz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
King lands a shoulder strike.
King lands on the inside with an uppercut.
King lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Ortiz or not.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ortiz using the Thai plumb to throw knees but King has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
King lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ortiz backwards.

Ortiz has clasped his hands together around King's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

You can see the frustration on King's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ortiz postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
King avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ortiz.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ortiz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but King is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
King pushes Ortiz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ortiz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee asks Ortiz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ortiz prefers to stall for the moment though.

King parries the strikes from Ortiz easily there. Ortiz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable King to escape.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ortiz misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
King wants to get back to his feet but Ortiz drags him back down.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Teto Ortiz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ortiz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks King with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Ortiz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.
King lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Ortiz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as King walks away with a smile on his face. Ortiz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ortiz swats away the attempt to clinch by King.
King throws a good cross that connects.
King throws a series of punches but Ortiz moves out of range.
King scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ortiz in his tracks.
King tries to clinch up but Ortiz circles away and keeps his distance.
King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ortiz circles away quickly and effectively.

King rushes Ortiz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ortiz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.

King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ortiz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

King takes the fight into the clinch.
King is looking to control Ortiz's arms but Ortiz gets an underhook and turns him. Now King has his back to the cage.
Ortiz blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
King wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ortiz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. King is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

King wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, King creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Still in the clinch, King scores with a nice short uppercut.
King lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ortiz backwards.
Ortiz goes for a takedown attempt but King pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ortiz takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

King moves into range and clinches up with Ortiz.

David King seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

David King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
