The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul Jr misses with a takedown attempt

and Coldon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Paul Jr's guard now.
Coldon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Paul Jr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Paul Jr is on top in guard.

Paul Jr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Coldon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Paul Jr has managed to get both his arms back between Coldon's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Justin Paul Jr has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Justin Paul Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paul Jr shoots in for a takedown but Coldon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
