1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Silver! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silver connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Sytsevich uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silver. Sytsevich blocks a jab. Silver wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Silver scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Sytsevich shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sytsevich is looking to advance position but Silver won't allow it. Silver is staying active underneath Sytsevich, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sytsevich is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sytsevich is pressing down on Silver's thigh, looking to free his foot. Silver is holding on for now. Sytsevich is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Silver is staying active underneath Sytsevich, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sytsevich in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Silver tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Sytsevich!
