PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lawrence Chester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michio Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chester's entrance music is obscure neo-folk. A fine choice. Michio Suzuki is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lawrence Chester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michio Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Chester. No joy for Suzuki on that attempt.

Suzuki looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Chester thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Chester keeping full guard, as Suzuki tries to pass.

Chester pushes Suzuki off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Suzuki on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Chester tries for a takedown but Suzuki circles away easily

and Suzuki counters with a shoot takedown. Chester fights it but they end up in guard.

Chester not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Suzuki passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Suzuki working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Suzuki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chester is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Suzuki looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Suzuki looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chester is looking to reverse the position.
Suzuki working away.

Suzuki goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Chester rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Suzuki's guard! Nice work there by Chester!
Chester postures up and lands a big shot to Suzuki's brow.

Suzuki is looking for a triangle but Chester pushes his legs off easily.
Chester has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Suzuki is looking for a triangle here but Chester uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Chester decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Suzuki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chester misses with a kick to the body.
Chester swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chester throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Suzuki counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Suzuki has gone for a leg lock! Chester slips out almost immediately though and dives into Suzuki's guard.
Suzuki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Suzuki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chester can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Chester gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michio Suzuki dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Suzuki avoids the head kick by Chester.
Chester misses with a looping left.
Suzuki with a poor takedown
and Chester counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Suzuki smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suzuki slips under a jab from Chester.

and Chester counters with a big head kick but Suzuki shrugs it off.

and Chester counters with a shoot takedown. Suzuki fights it but they end up in guard.
Lawrence Chester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michio Suzuki.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chester content to stall in guard here.

Suzuki isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Chester stacks Suzuki on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Chester!

Suzuki sneaks back into half guard.
Suzuki gets full guard.

Suzuki pushes a forearm under Chester's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Chester is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Michio Suzuki!
