The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watts looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Watts sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dowdak defending well though.
Dowdak looking for submissions off his back.
Dowdak is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Watts pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Dowdak makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Dion Watts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Watts gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Dowdak counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dowdak.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Watts throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Dowdak postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Watts is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dowdak, into his guard.
Dowdak is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Watts rolls with it to try and escape but Dowdak cranks on the arm and Watts is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
