PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Caeas Liege (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liege comes to the cage accompanied by Will T. Bear: For a Few Dollars . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Caeas Liege!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 2, fighting out of London, Fred Boyle!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Liege throws a series of strikes that have Boyle backpedaling.
Boyle shoots in for a takedown but Liege shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Liege throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boyle's waist but Boyle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Liege off to one side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boyle.
Caeas Liege has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Boyle.
Boyle shoots in but Liege avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Boyle stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Boyle wants it to stay on the feet.
Nice uppercut lands for Liege. That snapped Boyle's head back.
Liege throws a series of punches but Boyle moves out of range.

Liege rushes Boyle and presses him up against the cage.

Liege jumps guard and drags Boyle to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Liege keeping moving, preventing Boyle from controlling successfully.
Boyle looking to sit in guard and control but Liege gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boyle wants to improve his position but instead Liege has moved into half guard.

Liege is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Boyle sees it coming and defends easily.
Boyle is looking for a sweep. Liege is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Liege is keen to just control but Boyle is a slippery customer.

Boyle looking for submissions off his back.
Boyle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Liege is working away from the top position though.

Liege stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Boyle to get to his feet.
Liege looks to throw the jab but Boyle is out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boyle bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Liege's head backwards.
Boyle on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Boyle closes this distance looking for a takedown but Liege circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Liege looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Liege closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Boyle's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Boyle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Liege doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Liege manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Liege slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Boyle throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Liege is in close to Boyle's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Boyle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Liege defends it easily.

Boyle is working an open guard so Liege takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boyle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liege sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boyle somewhat.
Liege just misses with a punch to the body.
Boyle with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Liege to score with a decent uppercut.
Liege scores with a jab to the head.
Boyle walks into a stiff left hand from Liege.
Boyle on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Liege shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Boyle has his foot on Liege's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Liege works his way back into a safe position though.
Boyle keeping moving, preventing Liege from controlling successfully.
Boyle controls Liege momentarily but Liege frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Liege working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Boyle's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Liege has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Boyle to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Liege is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Boyle pulls down on the head and he's put Liege to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Fred Boyle!
