PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quala Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Yackey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yackey has chosen Ante Up as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bear.

Yackey clinches.

Yackey has Bear pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Yackey pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bear tumbling to the mat - Yackey dives into Bear's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Yackey tries to stand but Bear is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yackey is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Yackey prevents Bear from getting back to his feet.
Bear keeping moving, preventing Yackey from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jimmy Yackey.
Bear throws a lazy head kick

and Yackey counters by moving into the clinch.
Bear blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Yackey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Yackey drops his hands momentarily and Bear takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bear lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yackey circles away quickly and effectively.
Bear throws a big shot that misses.
Bear throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bear tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yackey swivels and escapes.

Yackey gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A nice right hand lands inside from Yackey.
Bear is trying to push Yackey away but Yackey has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Bear manages to pull guard.

Yackey stands up and waves to Bear to follow him.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bear!
Bear throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yackey doesn't manage to clinch there - Bear circles away.
Bear shoots in and drives through. Yackey sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quala Bear. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Yackey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Yackey tries to close the distance and clinch but Bear swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Yackey or perhaps it was just good defense by Bear which made him look bad.
Bear lands a lovely overhand right.
Bear throws a right hand that misses

so Yackey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Bear trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bear is on top in guard.

Yackey is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Bear has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Yackey to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bear is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Yackey pulls down on the head and he's put Bear to sleep! This one is all over!
