Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hoku Kahaunaele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Kid!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahaunaele slaps away a takedown attempt from Kid, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Kahaunaele shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kahaunaele showed some decent athleticism there.
Still in half guard, Kahaunaele seems content to control.
Kahaunaele prevents Kid from standing back up.
Kahaunaele is taking a breather. Kid says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kid wants to get back to his feet.
Kahaunaele is pressing down on Kid's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kid is holding on for now.

Kid's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Kid shoots for a double leg takedown but Kahaunaele sprawls well. He's pushed Kid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Kahaunaele counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kid won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kid is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kahaunaele is controlling him well.
