Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julian Tees! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Wittman! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wittman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Tees has his takedown stuffed and Wittman counters with a shoot takedown. Tees fights it but they end up in guard. Tees looking for a sweep. Not yet Tees, not yet. Wittman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Tees wants to stand but Wittman is controlling the position. Tees had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wittman is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tees Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wittman's back instead. Wittman is trying to break free.
Wittman staying busy and making it hard for Tees to control. Wittman fending off the submission attempt from Tees. Wittman trying to control the position but Tees manages to sink in the hooks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tees trying to control momentarily.
Wittman rolls, trying to escape but Tees keeps control of the position.
Tees struggling to keep hold of the position.
Tees working for the choke. Wittman prevents Tees from getting a body triangle. Tees is breathing heavily. Wittman trying to control the position but Tees manages to sink in the hooks. Tees tries to keep control of the position but Wittman is staying busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Wittman rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Tees wants to control but Wittman is keeping him busy. Tees prevents Wittman from improving his position. Tees wants to take a breather but Wittman is having none of it. Tees is thwarting Wittman's attempts to control the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Wittman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tees looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Tees is looking to regain half guard here but Wittman keeps moving and retains side control. Wittman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tees has escaped the position, nice work there. Wittman wants to control but Tees is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wittman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Tees managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Wittman.
Tees is trying to get back to half guard. Wittman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Wittman has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Wittman avoids the attempt from Tees to control. Wittman looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Tees has given up his back.
Wittman is hanging on to Tees's back as he tries to escape.
Tees is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wittman slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Wittman has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Tees is in real trouble here. Wittman gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Tees is tapping out! Wittman wins by rear naked choke!
