Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elizondo Tacos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Muraki Tunamoto! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tunamoto fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tacos. Horrible takedown by Tacos or perhaps it was just good defense by Tunamoto which made him look bad. Tacos looks for a takedown but Tunamoto sprawls well. Tacos avoids a kick to the body.
Tacos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Tacos shoots in for a takedown but Tunamoto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elizondo Tacos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tunamoto jabbing away but nothing is landing. Tacos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Tunamoto sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tacos thows a huge punch but Tunamoto dodges it nicely.
Tunamoto wants to control but Tacos is keeping busy and won't allow it. Tunamoto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Tacos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tunamoto can do anything to dispel that myth. Tacos lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Tunamoto avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tacos. Tacos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tacos connects with a nice short shot to Tunamoto's temple. Tacos throwing shots but Tunamoto is blocking nicely. Tacos missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Tunamoto is positioning himself well to prevent Tacos advancing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tunamoto is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tacos scores with a couple of nice shots. Tacos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Tunamoto pushes Tacos off looking to stand but Tacos dives back in and keeps control.
Tacos maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Tunamoto could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Tacos has cracked it and Tunamoto is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Tacos!
