Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kieran Potts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Arcine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kieran Potts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Melvin Arcine! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arcine scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Kieran Potts has been cut. Potts misses with a takedown attempt - Arcine sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Arcine shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Potts manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Potts is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Potts keeping full guard, as Arcine tries to pass. Arcine slips nicely into half guard. Potts is trying to get back to full guard. Arcine sitting and controlling from the half guard. Potts wants to control but Arcine is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arcine is looking to advance position but Potts won't allow it. Potts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Arcine on the ground. Potts avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Arcine. Potts is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Arcine jumps into side control! Potts being controlled for a moment. Arcine decides to take the fight back to the feet. Potts with a lazy takedown attempt and Arcine counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Potts controls Arcine momentarily but Arcine frees himself. Arcine not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Arcine decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Potts, up you get! Arcine slaps away a takedown attempt from Potts, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kieran Potts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Potts is breathing heavily. Potts tries to sprawl but Arcine drives through with a takedown into half guard. Potts has hold of Arcine's hands but Arcine slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Arcine lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Arcine keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arcine passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Potts! A nice elbow there by Arcine. Potts tries to hold on but Arcine postures up. Arcine lands a nice shot to the head. Arcine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Arcine is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Potts has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arcine controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Melvin Arcine dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kieran Potts's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Potts wants to clinch and Arcine counters with a nice double leg into guard. Melvin Arcine has got the better of the ground game so far. Potts has momentary wrist control but Arcine slips an elbow through the middle. Arcine looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Potts looking for a sweep. Not yet Potts, not yet. Arcine wants to pass the guard but Potts is keeping the position. Arcine controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Melvin Arcine hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Arcine scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Arcine creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Arcine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Arcine slows the pace down. Arcine is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Potts is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Arcine moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Potts tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arcine grinds an elbow into Potts's temple. Arcine has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. This has been an exciting period of action! Arcine rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Potts moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Potts wants to clinch up but Arcine keeps it at a distance. Arcine closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Potts to the mat! Potts manages to get full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Arcine showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Arcine throwing strikes from guard but Potts blocks nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arcine controls from within his opponent's guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Melvin Arcine was stalling too much, according to the referee. Arcine manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Potts on his heels. He'll look to pass Potts's guard now, I'm sure. Arcine cracks Potts with a solid left hand. Arcine is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Potts looking for a guillotine here but Arcine defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Arcine gets to his feet - Potts follows without any prompting. Potts listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Arcine shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Potts is trying to defend but Arcine finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Arcine not doing much here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Melvin Arcine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Kieran Potts's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Arcine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Potts was covering up waiting for the punch and Arcine finishes the takedown easily into guard. Arcine stands and steps away. Potts gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Potts pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Potts looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

And that's the end of the fight! Melvin Arcine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Arcine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
