0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Hodsden! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hodsden scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Votan pushes Hodsden off looking to stand but Hodsden dives back in and keeps control.
Hodsden with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Votan is looking to get back to full guard here but Hodsden has managed to pass to side control instead. Hodsden throwing strikes here but Votan is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Hodsden controlling from mount. Votan is working to get back to half guard.
Votan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. It looks like Hodsden is going to stand back up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hodsden is pressing down on Votan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Votan is holding on for now. Votan tries to roll over but Hodsden keeps him under control. Hodsden works his way into side control. Votan is looking for a sweep. Votan seems a little lost for a moment, as Hodsden dominates the positioning. Votan tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Hodsden is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Votan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Votan struggling a bit here.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hodsden avoids the head kick by Votan.
Hodsden tries to clinch but Votan is having none of it. Hodsden takes a jab right on the kisser.
Votan gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hodsden fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Votan pressing his opponent against the cage. A short left from Votan. Votan lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hodsden backwards. Hodsden goes for a takedown attempt but Votan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Votan drops Hodsden with a right and a left! Votan comes rushing in but Hodsden regains his composure and manages to keep Votan in guard.

It looks like Josh Hodsden has been cut. Votan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hodsden looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Votan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Votan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Votan wants to control from the top but Hodsden keeps moving. Votan postures up.
Hodsden thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Votan tries to free his leg and advance position but Hodsden is retaining full guard. Votan trying to control the position from guard on top but Hodsden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hodsden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Votan wants to pass the guard but Hodsden is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A nice combination there by Votan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Votan stuffs the takedown. Pacal Votan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Hodsden. Votan fails with the takedown. Hodsden shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Hodsden is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hodsden seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Hodsden thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Votan trying to control from the bottom.

Nicely done. Hodsden must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hodsden controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Votan can't keep his opponent in guard - Hodsden advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hodsden is pressing down on Votan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Votan is holding on for now. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Hodsden shoots in and bounces Votan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hodsden stays in close to Votan's body and controls the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Votan is on top in guard.
Votan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hodsden's guard. Hodsden works his way to full guard. Good work. Hodsden keeping full guard, as Votan tries to pass. Hodsden had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Votan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hodsden Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Votan's back instead. Hodsden takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hodsden controlling well, preventing Votan from escaping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Votan manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hodsden's guard. Nice work there by Votan.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hodsden is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Votan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Votan's back! Votan turns into Hodsden and is now in his guard.
Votan wants to pass the guard but Hodsden is keeping the position. Votan wants to stand and escape but instead Hodsden has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Votan being controlled here, momentarily. Hodsden looking to pass the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hodsden stopping the sweep attempt from Votan. Hodsden content to stall in guard here. Votan has his foot on Hodsden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hodsden works his way back into a safe position though. Votan can't keep his opponent in guard - Hodsden advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hodsden blocks the strikes from Votan.
And that's the end of the fight! Josh Hodsden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Hodsden has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
