PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kid Kamakazi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Lankari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamakazi comes to the cage accompanied by Cooking by the book. Lankari has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kid Kamakazi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hans Lankari!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lankari closes the distance and clinches.
Kamakazi tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lankari's elbow.
A left hand lands to the body for Kamakazi.
Lankari is trying to pull guard but Kamakazi has him pressed against the cage.
Kamakazi is pressed up against the cage. Lankari has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kamakazi down to the mat. Kamakazi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lankari manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kamakazi on his heels. He'll look to pass Kamakazi's guard now, I'm sure.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lankari accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kamakazi has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lankari off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kamakazi wants to improve his position but instead Lankari has moved into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lankari has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lankari decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kamakazi, up you get!

Lankari turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Kamakazi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lankari tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Kamakazi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lankari wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kamakazi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

It looks like Kamakazi is going to stand back up.

Kamakazi gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Kamakazi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lankari misses with a takedown attempt - Kamakazi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kamakazi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kamakazi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kamakazi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Lankari fails to pull the fight into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kid Kamakazi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lankari tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kamakazi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lankari somewhat.

Lankari fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kamakazi, pushing him back against the cage.

Lankari's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lankari goes for a takedown attempt but Kamakazi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Lankari tries to throw a body punch but Kamakazi avoids it by throwing Lankari back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lankari has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kamakazi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Lankari tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kamakazi just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kamakazi lands a body punch.
Lankari is breathing heavily.
Kamakazi lands a shoulder strike.
Lankari trying to control the position but instead, Kamakazi has worked for underhooks and has pushed Lankari into the cage.

Kamakazi is staying active underneath Lankari, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Lankari ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lankari no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kamakazi wants to get up but he can't break Lankari's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

and Lankari makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kamakazi really felt that one!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kid Kamakazi.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kamakazi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
