The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Why throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nogueira counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like John Why has been cut.
Why throws a series of punches but Nogueira moves out of range.
Nogueira lands a big head kick that sends Why tumbling to the mat! Nogueira takes a step backwards and waves Why back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Why is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nogueira lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Oh Why is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nogueira rushes Why and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nogueira has Why pressed against the cage. He pushes Why back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Nogueira throws a beautiful elbow that sends Why crashing to the floor! Nogueira piles on the pressure with more strikes! Why is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joilton Nogueira!
A very excited looking Joilton Nogueira made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
