Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Lisser! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tallak Hrolf ! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lisser lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Matt Lisser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lisser stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lisser wants it to stay on the feet. Hrolf uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lisser. Lisser tries to clinch there but Hrolf circles away.
Hrolf 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lisser connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hrolf scrambles back to his feet. Lisser gets a takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Lisser is looking to take a break and control but Hrolf is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lisser wants to pass to mount but Hrolf is defending the position. Lisser not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lisser seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Hrolf is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lisser thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hrolf 's head. Hrolf has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lisser is working away from the top position though. Lisser prevents Hrolf from improving his position. Hrolf is trying is best to control the position here. Hrolf has hold of Lisser's hands but Lisser slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Lisser is trying to control. Hrolf wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lisser is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lisser is nestled in close to Hrolf , controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lisser is looking to take a break and control but Hrolf is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hrolf tries to roll over but Lisser keeps him under control. Lisser lands with a punch from half guard. Lisser trying to control the pace. Hrolf is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lisser stalling away here and it's allowed Hrolf to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Hrolf keeping moving, preventing Lisser from controlling successfully. Hrolf looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lisser puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lisser lands with a punch from half guard. Hrolf is trying to get back to full guard. Lisser looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Hrolf taking some punishment here, with Lisser in his half guard. Lisser is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Lisser postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lisser throwing strikes from guard but Hrolf blocks nicely. Hrolf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hrolf looking to control.
Lisser wants to pass the guard but Hrolf is keeping the position. Lisser won't allow Hrolf to sweep him here. Hrolf is trying to keep Lisser in close.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lisser loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lisser postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tallak Hrolf . Hrolf misses with a two punch combination.
The fight moves into the clinch position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lisser is pressed up against the cage. Hrolf has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lisser down to the mat. Lisser avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lisser ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hrolf moves away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Lisser dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lisser throws a front kick aimed at Hrolf 's knee but Hrolf avoids it well. Lisser cracks Hrolf with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Lisser checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Hrolf dives in and scores a takedown into Lisser's guard. Lisser not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lisser avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hrolf working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Hrolf wants to control from the top but Lisser keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lisser preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hrolf throws a strike but Lisser rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hrolf wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hrolf has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Lisser stands up over Hrolf , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Matt Lisser overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hrolf tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hrolf avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hrolf keeping moving, preventing Lisser from controlling successfully. Hrolf looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lisser loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lisser throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lisser lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Hrolf preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lisser trying to control the position from guard on top but Hrolf is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lisser with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Lisser has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hrolf is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lisser looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hrolf prevents Lisser from getting back to his feet. Hrolf lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Hrolf trying to control but Lisser is working from the bottom. Lisser is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Hrolf wants to control from the top but Lisser keeps moving. Hrolf throws an elbow that misses. Lisser uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hrolf 's guard. Nice move by Lisser!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lisser content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Hrolf wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Lisser pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hrolf is keeping the position for now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Lisser is looking to work some ground and pound but Hrolf has wrist control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hrolf is looking to sweep but instead, Lisser has passed into half guard.
Hrolf tries to roll over but Lisser keeps him under control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Lisser will probably get the nod. That's time! Lisser's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Hrolf fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lisser on the side of the head.
It looks like Matt Lisser has been cut. Hrolf lands with a nice combination. Lisser backs away looking to recover. Lisser throws an off balance right hand
and Hrolf counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lisser won't be happy with that. This has been an exciting period of action! Lisser is trying to get back to his feet. Hrolf trying to control the position but Lisser is working away. Hrolf misses with the ground and pound. Lisser takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Lisser is rocked! Lisser is trying to buck Hrolf off. Hrolf in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Who's going to make the next move? Hrolf goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lisser rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hrolf 's guard! Nice work there by Lisser! Lisser throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hrolf manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lisser has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Hrolf 's lack of action.
Hrolf not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hrolf with the ground and pound but Lisser uses the opportunity to regain guard. Hrolf throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hrolf lands a couple of digs. Hrolf drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lisser looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lisser looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lisser! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hrolf manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hrolf slips a nice elbow through Lisser's hands, connecting with Lisser's forehead. Hrolf trying to mount his opponent but Lisser defends it. Lisser is staying active underneath Hrolf , who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hrolf thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hrolf throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Lisser to regain full guard. Hrolf trying to control the position from guard on top but Lisser is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hrolf throwing strikes from guard but Lisser blocks nicely.

Hrolf looking to sit in guard and control but Lisser gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Hrolf manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lisser sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Tallak Hrolf comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Lisser has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
