Rua's entrance music is Roy Jones - Can't be touched . A fine choice. Jones has chosen Ennio Morricone - The Return of Ringo as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Jones!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
Rua is trying to buck Jones off.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Rua is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jones off and has taken his back!

Jones is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Jones just trying to survive but Rua is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Rua is persistently looking for the submission but Jones is defending it well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones turns into Rua and is now in his guard.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Rua is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rua manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Rua's guard.

Rua keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Rua controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.

Rua looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones looking to pass the guard.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rua has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.

Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Rua not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rua is really struggling to control Jones but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rua is keeping the position for now.
Rua is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mauricio Rua just wasn't active enough.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Rua clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the ropes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mauricio Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Jones.

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Rua tries to land a knee to the head but Jones blocks with his arms.
Jones unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rua lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Rua lands an elbow just above Jones 's eye.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Jones.
Rua lands an elbow inside that Jones shrugs off.
Rua throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
The referee calls for Rua to work.
Rua lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jones backwards.

Jones has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rua is trying to keep an underhook but Jones manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Rua wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.
Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Rua is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rua regains full guard. Nicely done.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rua thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jones working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones throwing strikes from guard but Rua blocks nicely.
Jones pushing down on Rua's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Rua is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rua avoid being mounted?
Rua is trying is best to control the position here.
Rua is pressing down on Jones's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Rua is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jones wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rua wants to sweep but no luck.
Rua not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mauricio Rua will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jones lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Rua moves into the clinch.
Rua throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Jones is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rua lands a shot to the body.

Jones is trying to trip Rua. He has hold of a leg but Rua is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jones persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones won't allow Rua to get back to his feet.
Jones is in close to Rua's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rua is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Rua preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Jones passes Rua's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Jones is working for a kimura but Rua is defending it quite comfortably.

Jones is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Rua to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Rua is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rua has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Jones doesn't defend quickly enough and Rua has managed to lock this one up! Can Jones escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Rua on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mauricio Rua!
