Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miko Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Bellator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bulls on Parade. Bellator has chosen A Lesson Never Learned as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Miko Maia has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miko Maia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Bellator! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bellator shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maia as he jumps to the side. Bellator throws out a loose jab but Maia uses good head movement to avoid it. Maia throws a body punch but Bellator moves out of range. A jab lands there for Bellator. Bellator throws a shot from downtown. Maia moves away and avoids it. Maia tries to land a front kick but Bellator steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Maia throws a sloppy head kick and Bellator moves out of range easily. Bellator throws a hook but Maia avoids it easily. Maia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bellator manages to avoid it. Bellator throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Bellator counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Maia cracks Bellator with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Bellator keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Maia. Bellator ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maia moves away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Some wild striking there from Bellator.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bellator works Maia's body with a nice hook. Maia throws a hook but Bellator blocks it. Bellator throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maia's waist but Maia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bellator off to one side. A telegraphed right hand from Maia misses the target. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miko Maia. Bellator misses with a takedown attempt and Maia counters with a stiff right hand. Miko Maia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Bellator. Bellator tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Maia was well out of range. Poor timing from Bellator. Maia thows a left - swing and a miss! Maia scores with a nice right hand.

Maia has hold of Bellator's hands but Bellator slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maia keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Maia actively working from the bottom here. Bellator seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Maia looks like he's trying to stand up.
Bellator is looking for a kimura but Maia is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bellator to get the leverage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Bellator dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Maia looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Nice uppercut there from Bellator. Bellator lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Bellator uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maia.

I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Maia keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bellator's efforts to push away. Maia is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bellator is defending well for now. Bellator tries to score a body lock takedown but Maia shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Maia works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Maia with a flurry of punches that miss. Frank Bellator has got the better of the ground game so far. Maia postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
