Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter McHaggis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Brunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McHaggis comes into the arena with The Spicy McHaggis Jig blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter McHaggis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Brunner! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brunner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McHaggis sprawls well initially but Brunner persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Brunner with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McHaggis throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Still in half guard, Brunner seems content to control. McHaggis wants to get back to full guard. Brunner perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. McHaggis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McHaggis is trying to maintain the position but Brunner is very close to passing his half guard. Brunner seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. McHaggis actively working from the bottom here. McHaggis is looking for a sweep. Brunner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Brunner working McHaggis over with strikes.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McHaggis tries for a takedown but Brunner circles away easily and Brunner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brunner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McHaggis swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brunner is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Brunner slips nicely into half guard. McHaggis wants to get back to full guard but Brunner has passed into side control. McHaggis is trying desperately to improve position. Brunner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McHaggis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Brunner controlling from the full mount. Brunner with good strikes from the mount here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Brunner controlling the position easily from mount. McHaggis swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Brunner sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Brunner trying to control but McHaggis is having none of it. McHaggis is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McHaggis slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. McHaggis is breathing heavily. McHaggis wants to get back to full guard. McHaggis punching from the bottom.

Brunner is working for a kimura but McHaggis is defending it quite comfortably.
McHaggis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Brunner scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brunner seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. McHaggis works his way to full guard. Good work. McHaggis wants to sweep here but Brunner controlling him for the moment. Brunner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Brunner working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Brunner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McHaggis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Brunner keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McHaggis's head. Brunner is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. McHaggis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brunner! Brunner tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sergey Brunner dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
McHaggis shoots and misses and Brunner counters with a single leg into guard. McHaggis didn't expect that. Brunner is stalling in the full guard. Brunner cracks McHaggis with a solid left hand. Brunner postures up and lands a big shot to McHaggis's brow. Brunner wants to pass the guard but McHaggis is keeping the position. Brunner postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Brunner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McHaggis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Brunner postures up and lands a big shot to McHaggis's brow. Brunner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. McHaggis throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
McHaggis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brunner manages to get himself to full guard.
Brunner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McHaggis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. McHaggis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Brunner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Brunner has escaped and now he's on top! Brunner wants to pass the guard but McHaggis is keeping the position. Brunner sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McHaggis's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brunner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McHaggis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Brunner sitting and controlling from the half guard. Brunner landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. McHaggis gets full guard. McHaggis looking for a sweep. Not yet McHaggis, not yet. McHaggis wants to hit a switch here but Brunner passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for McHaggis there! Brunner in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
McHaggis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
McHaggis is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McHaggis regains half guard. McHaggis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brunner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brunner's back! Brunner avoids the strikes from McHaggis. Brunner just looking to survive in the bad position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. McHaggis is persistently looking for the submission but Brunner is defending it well.
Brunner breaks McHaggis's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Brunner is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Brunner's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Brunner sitting in guard here, content to control. Sergey Brunner has got the better of the ground game so far. McHaggis is working an open guard so Brunner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McHaggis isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Brunner stacks McHaggis on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Brunner! The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. McHaggis is trying to improve his position. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brunner landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Brunner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. McHaggis tries to buck Brunner off but Brunner is having none of it. Brunner controls the position. You can see the frustration on McHaggis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. McHaggis regains half guard. Brunner blocks the strikes from McHaggis.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. McHaggis scores with a few weak punches. McHaggis is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Brunner pushing down on McHaggis's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. McHaggis tries to get to full guard but Brunner has control of the leg. Brunner scores with a couple of good hammerfists. McHaggis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Brunner is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McHaggis is just riding it out for now. Brunner eventually gives up the hold. McHaggis is pressing down on Brunner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Brunner lands a couple of decent looking shots. McHaggis wants to sweep here but Brunner controlling him for the moment. Brunner trying to control but McHaggis is working from the bottom. McHaggis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Brunner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McHaggis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Brunner cracks McHaggis with a solid left hand. McHaggis wants to sweep here but Brunner controlling him for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight! Sergey Brunner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Brunner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
