Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro De La Barrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alejandro De La Barrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raje Malapitan!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malapitan drives through with a takedown into Barrera's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Malapitan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Malapitan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Barrera keeping moving, preventing Malapitan from controlling successfully.
Malapitan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barrera swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Malapitan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barrera's guard.

Malapitan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Barrera looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Barrera looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Barrera!

Barrera defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Malapitan.

Malapitan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Barrera has escaped the position, nice work there.
Malapitan is trying to ground and pound but Barrera uses the momentary lack of control by Malapitan to regain half guard.
Malapitan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Malapitan wants to pass to mount but Barrera is defending the position.

Malapitan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Malapitan seems to be working for a kimura but Barrera defends the submission attempt.
Malapitan is keen to just control but Barrera is a slippery customer.

Malapitan is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Barrera is surviving well by controlling Malapitan's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malapitan goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Barrera turns into him and now he's in Malapitan's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

That was a close second round but I would say that Alejandro De La Barrera will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Malapitan dives in and grabs Barrera's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barrera pushes down on Malapitan's head and hops out.
Malapitan leaves Barrera with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Malapitan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barrera pinned against the cage. Barrera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Malapitan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barrera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Barrera wants to get up but he can't break Malapitan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Barrera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

I would just about give that final round to Raje Malapitan.
I think Malapitan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
