PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshawn Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Webster comes to the cage accompanied by Caribou Lou. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marshawn Webster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Webster pinned against the cage. Webster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fisher tries to clinch there but Webster circles away.
Webster lands with a kick to the temple. Fisher shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like John Fisher has been cut.
Fisher tests Webster's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Webster changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice body kick there by Fisher.

Fisher fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Webster sprawls well initially but Fisher persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fisher is keen to just control but Webster is a slippery customer.
Fisher thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Webster's head.
Webster keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fisher throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Fisher seems to be working for a kimura but Webster defends the submission attempt.

Fisher escapes and gets back to his feet.

Webster clinches with his opponent.
Webster is trying to break the clinch but Fisher is controlling him.
Webster blocks an elbow strike.
Webster can't break the clinch.

Fisher's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fisher fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fisher shoots in looking for a takedown. Webster tries to sprawl out of it but Fisher keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Webster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fisher has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fisher blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Webster lands with a right to the head.
Webster blocks an elbow strike from Fisher.
Webster on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Webster tries to circle away but Fisher has him pinned against the cage.
Webster misses with a body punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Webster misses with a punch to the body.
Webster tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Webster is pressed up against the cage. Fisher has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Webster down to the mat. Webster avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Marshawn Webster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Fisher.
Fisher dives in and grabs Webster's left leg, looking for a takedown. Webster pushes down on Fisher's head and hops out.
Fisher fails to land the takedown.
Webster tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Fisher tries for a takedown but Webster circles away easily
and Webster counters with a stiff right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fisher is looking to chop away at Webster's legs.

Fisher drives through with a takedown into Webster's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Fisher advances position into side control!

Fisher is trying to get an arm triangle but Webster is defending well.
Fisher throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Fisher has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fisher.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fisher closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Webster quickly recovers to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fisher takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Webster wants to stand back up but Fisher manages to pass into side control.
Fisher throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fisher working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Fisher dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Fisher's cut.
That's time! Webster's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Webster manages to break the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Fisher.

Fisher tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fisher has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Fisher throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Webster takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Webster on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Webster tries to get out of the position.

Fisher is trying to get an arm triangle but Webster is defending well.
John Fisher has got the better of the ground game so far.

Fisher has hold of Webster's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Webster seems comfortable defending it but Fisher has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Webster is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Webster is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Fisher couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Fisher!
John Fisher seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
