Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Horacio Vanderbeet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ryan O Reily! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vanderbeet pulls out of a head kick attempt.
O Reily throws out a leg kick but Vanderbeet moves out of range and O Reily only half commits. O Reily fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A chopping leg kick lands by Vanderbeet. Vanderbeet tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but O Reily swivels and escapes. No joy there for O Reily, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Vanderbeet fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Vanderbeet with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Vanderbeet tries for a takedown but O Reily circles away easily and O Reily counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vanderbeet's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Horacio Vanderbeet. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. O Reily trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. O Reily stopping the sweep attempt from Vanderbeet. O Reily is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. O Reily stands and throws Vanderbeet's legs to the side, diving into side control. O Reily tries for a kimura but Vanderbeet is defending well. Vanderbeet tries to improve position but can't. O Reily tries for a kimura but Vanderbeet is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O Reily tries for a kimura but Vanderbeet is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vanderbeet is looking for a sweep. O Reily wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vanderbeet, who protects the arm well. O Reily tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no O Reily has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! O Reily looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vanderbeet is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vanderbeet struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. O Reily is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vanderbeet is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. O Reily is trying to get an arm triangle but Vanderbeet is defending well. O Reily tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. O Reily thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. O Reily is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vanderbeet has escaped the position, nice work there. O Reily is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vanderbeet knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. O Reily looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan O Reily dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Vanderbeet fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but O Reily avoids it really well and circles away. O Reily slips under a jab from Vanderbeet. O Reily shoots for a takedown but Vanderbeet saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A punch combination from O Reily misses. O Reily shoots in but no luck this time. A slow jab from Vanderbeet misses its intended target. Vanderbeet scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Nice strikes from Vanderbeet there. O Reily tries to get to full guard but Vanderbeet has control of the leg. Vanderbeet controlling the action here. Vanderbeet's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. O Reily manages to regain full guard. Nice work. O Reily manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Vanderbeet blocking the ground and pound. Vanderbeet tries to reverse the position but O Reily maintains control. O Reily goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Vanderbeet turns into him and now he's in O Reily's guard.
Vanderbeet trying to control the position from guard on top but O Reily is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vanderbeet looking to pass the guard. O Reily is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. O Reily is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. O Reily is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vanderbeet trying to control but O Reily postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. O Reily seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Vanderbeet is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
