Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Young Scooter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scooter throws a left and a right that both miss
and Diaz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Diaz. Scooter tries to pull guard but Diaz won't allow it.
Diaz tries to work over Scooter's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Scooter stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Diaz breaks the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Diaz as Scooter shoots in. Scooter avoids the head kick by Diaz.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Scooter. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz closes the distance and pushes Scooter back into the cage. Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. No joy there for Diaz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Diaz moves into range and clinches up with Scooter. Scooter is trying to break free. Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Horrible takedown by Scooter or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Young Scooter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scooter's waist but Scooter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side. Scooter drives through with a takedown into Diaz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Scooter tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz wants to stand but Scooter is controlling the position. Scooter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Scooter won't allow Diaz to sweep him here. Diaz working a defensive guard here.
Diaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Diaz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scooter tries to kick Diaz off but Diaz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Diaz stalling. Diaz tries to pass to full mount but Scooter defends it. Scooter wants to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nick Diaz. Diaz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Diaz's corner is telling him to maintain position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Scooter looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz postures up in Scooter's guard and throws a big left but Scooter blocks it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Scooter wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Diaz is now in half guard. Scooter pushes Diaz off and gets back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Diaz dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Scooter shoots in and drives through. Diaz sprawls well. Scooter misses with a takedown attempt - Diaz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Scooter tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Diaz counters with a left and a right that stings Scooter. Diaz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Diaz doesn't manage to clinch there - Scooter circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Young Scooter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz slips under a jab from Scooter. Scooter slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat. Diaz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Scooter defends it nicely. Scooter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Scooter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scooter throws a shot from downtown. Diaz moves away and avoids it. Scooter misses with a wild body shot. The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Scooter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Diaz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Scooter to the ground. Diaz is now in Scooter's guard. Diaz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Diaz passes Scooter's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Scooter tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg. Diaz stalling. Diaz is looking to advance position but Scooter won't allow it. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Scooter gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scooter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there. Diaz trying to control but Scooter is working from the bottom. Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but Scooter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Diaz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Scooter is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Scooter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Scooter misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Scooter looks to score with a jab to the body but Diaz is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scooter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Scooter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Diaz slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Diaz keeping hold of Scooter's head, controlling as best he can. Diaz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Scooter. Scooter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Scooter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Diaz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Scooter with the ground and pound but Diaz uses the opportunity to regain guard. Diaz working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Scooter is controlling him. Nick Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far. Diaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Diaz keeping full guard, as Scooter tries to pass. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Diaz looking for a sweep. Not yet Diaz, not yet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Diaz with a lazy takedown attempt and Scooter counters with a series of strikes. Diaz will be more careful next time no doubt. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Scooter misses with an uppercut
and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Scooter's guard. Diaz controlling from the top position. Scooter doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Diaz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Diaz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Young Scooter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nick Diaz wasn't active enough on the ground. Scooter misses the body punch and Diaz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Scooter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Scooter wants it to stay on the feet. Young Scooter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz. Diaz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Scooter. Nick Diaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scooter fails with the takedown. Diaz forces Scooter back against the cage and clinches. Diaz is pressed up against the cage. Scooter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Diaz down to the mat. Diaz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Diaz closes the distance and clinches up with Scooter, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes Scooter against the cage but Scooter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Scooter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Scooter swings away with a body shot that misses
and Diaz counters with a series of strikes. Scooter will be more careful next time no doubt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Nick Diaz. Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Nick Diaz! A very excited looking Nick Diaz rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
