PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cryptik HardOne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josimar Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). HardOne comes into the arena with Only god can judge me blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Souza shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fighters are battling for position here. HardOne manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Souza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! HardOne is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Souza, into his guard.
HardOne postures up in Souza's guard and throws a big left but Souza blocks it.
Souza tries to strike from the bottom.
HardOne is looking to work some ground and pound but Souza has wrist control.
Souza controls HardOne momentarily but HardOne frees himself.
HardOne trying to control the position from guard on top but Souza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Souza escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. HardOne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
HardOne throws a big right hand that misses.

HardOne got a little sloppy there for a moment and Souza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, HardOne has managed to get both his arms back between Souza's legs - danger averted.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Souza can do anything to dispel that myth.

We're going to have a standup here because Cryptik HardOne wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Souza.
HardOne dives in and grabs Souza's left leg, looking for a takedown. Souza pushes down on HardOne's head and hops out.
HardOne misses with a takedown attempt - Souza sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Souza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
No luck with that takedown attempt from HardOne.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cryptik HardOne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
HardOne shoots in but Souza avoids the takedown attempt easily.
HardOne is breathing heavily.

Souza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. HardOne looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Souza is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but HardOne is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Souza lands an elbow.

Souza cracks HardOne with a big right hand but HardOne just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
HardOne is not content to let Souza control the position.
Souza lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear HardOne down.

Souza tries for a kimura but HardOne is defending well.

Souza goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, HardOne has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Souza but great work by HardOne.
HardOne wants to stand but Souza is controlling his arm.
HardOne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Souza is looking to regain half guard here but HardOne keeps moving and retains side control.

HardOne postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Souza manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Souza thows a huge punch but HardOne dodges it nicely.
Souza wants to pass the guard but HardOne is defending well.
Souza winds up and cracks HardOne with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Well, if Souza is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Souza is sneakily working for an arm triangle but HardOne sees it coming and defends easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Souza in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. HardOne tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Souza!
