PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Pembridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lenny Pembridge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Paul!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paul forces Pembridge back against the cage and clinches.
Pembridge takes a knee right on the jaw!
Paul manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Paul breaks the clinch.
Pembridge takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Pembridge shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Paul counters by moving into the clinch.

Paul is trying to trip Pembridge. He has hold of a leg but Pembridge is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Paul persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Paul drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paul jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pembridge is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Pembridge escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Paul gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Paul stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Pembridge gets tackled into the cage by Paul. Paul maintains the clinch.
Nice elbow from Paul.
Pembridge tries to pull guard but Paul forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Paul connects with a nasty looking knee right to Pembridge's face.
Paul lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Paul landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Paul is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pembridge can't fight it off and eventually Paul manages to take the fight to the floor. Pembridge looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Paul stands up and waves to Pembridge to follow him.

Paul throws a head kick that Pembridge semi-blocks.

Paul has Pembridge up against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paul has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pembridge regains guard immediately.

Paul got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pembridge has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Paul has managed to get both his arms back between Pembridge's legs - danger averted.
Paul is pushing down on Pembridge's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pembridge is fighting to maintain full guard but Paul has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pembridge is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Paul pulls his head out easily.

Paul is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pembridge doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Paul.

Paul decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pembridge to his feet.

and Paul moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lenny Pembridge. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paul unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Pembridge is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Paul to keep the fight standing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pembridge jumps guard but Paul stands there with Pembridge around his waist. Pembridge gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Paul creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Paul dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Paul rushes Pembridge and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Paul has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Pembridge is trying to keep an underhook but Paul manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Paul wants to work for an arm triangle but Pembridge is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

and Paul counters with a good, hard body kick but Pembridge shrugs it off.
Paul throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Ron Paul showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Paul clinches.

Paul wants the takedown. Pembridge is fighting it off but Paul persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Pembridge's guard against the cage.

Pembridge had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Paul defends it easily.

Paul is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pembridge is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Paul creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pembridge sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Paul decides to stand back up. Paul steps back and let's Pembridge get back to his feet.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paul moves into range and clinches up with Pembridge.
Paul stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Paul digs a right hand underneath Pembridge's ribcage. Pembridge let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Paul misses with a hook to the ribs.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lenny Pembridge has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ron Paul is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ron Paul seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Paul has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pembridge clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

And that's the end of the fight!
Ron Paul comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Paul has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
