Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Houses! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Diego Bermudez! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Houses shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bermudez pinned against the cage. Bermudez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Bermudez walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Houses stuffs the takedown. Houses shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bermudez's guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Houses is stalling in the full guard. Bermudez is looking to stand up but Houses isn't so interested in that idea. Bermudez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Houses will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Houses with a flurry of punches that miss. Bermudez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Houses. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Houses stopping the sweep attempt from Bermudez.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dave Houses just wasn't active enough. Houses comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. "I don't think so" says Houses as he avoids it easily. Dave Houses has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Bermudez. Houses throws a leg kick which misses Bermudez's front leg but catches the back leg as Bermudez tries to avoid it. Houses darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Houses wants to pass to mount but Bermudez is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Houses seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. This has been an exciting period of action! Houses moves into full mount! Bermudez won't be happy about that!

Houses raining down shots from the mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Houses landing strikes from the mount. Houses breaks from Bermudez's wrist control and lands an elbow. Houses is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bermudez is surviving well by controlling Houses's body position as best he can. Houses looking to control but Bermudez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Houses is landing with some decent strikes but Bermudez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Houses controlling from the full mount. Bermudez is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Houses is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bermudez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Bermudez is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Bermudez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Bermudez is still in real trouble! Can Houses finish him? Houses lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Houses landing with strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bermudez defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Houses's arms. Houses has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Houses just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Houses working for a choke but Bermudez is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Houses dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Bermudez tries to clinch but Houses moves out of range. Houses fails to land the takedown. Houses fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The fight moves into the clinch position. Houses prevents Bermudez from breaking the clinch. Bermudez trying to control the position but instead, Houses has worked for underhooks and has pushed Bermudez into the cage. Houses landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Bermudez seems to have recovered his senses. Houses is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bermudez can do to turn this around? Houses manages to break the clinch.

A jab from Bermudez misses. Houses throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bermudez finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Houses misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bermudez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bermudez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Houses swats him away and circles back towards the center. Houses shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bermudez napping and manages to drive through into side control! Bermudez is letting Houses control him for a moment. Bermudez is not content to let Houses control the position. Houses is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bermudez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Houses happy to just control the position for now. Houses advances to full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bermudez is in all sorts of trouble here.

Bermudez wants to control but Houses is having none of it. Bermudez wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Houses has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! Bermudez taps furiously! This one is all over!
